Freelancer Programs: Eligibility & Benefits

Upwork has three programs that offer eligible freelancers special perks and opportunities. The purpose of each program is a little different:

  • Rising Talent: To help you build your business reputation on Upwork more quickly
  • Top Rated: To highlight your impressive reputation on Upwork and help you continue your success
  • Premium Services: To provide personalized services that help you boost your success on Upwork

The tables below show how you can become eligible for each as well as the associated perks.

Eligible freelancers will receive invitation by email.


Taking advantage of Premium services does not affect Rising Talent or Top Rated status.

User Type: Freelancer or non-exclusive agency member (Agencies have different criteria)

Freelancer Profile: 100% complete

Account Status: No Terms of Service violations in the last 3 months

Relevant Proposals: Submit proposals to projects relevant to your skill set

Knowledge Check: Passed the Upwork Readiness Test (link in email invitation)

Work History: First contract on Upwork was more than 90 days ago


Earnings: $1,000 or more on Upwork in the last 12 months


Invitation: To take advantage of Premium services


Accept and pass interview

* To receive and keep Top Rated status, freelancers have a Job Success Score of at least 90% (or have been in Rising Talent status) for 13 of the last 16 weeks.
