Can I use a digital bank (Facebank/Wise) on Upwork?
Depending on your location, we accept digital bank accounts like Facebank, Wise, and other banks that partner with Wise for withdrawals, including ACH withdrawals. To determine if you can use a digital bank, try entering the info as a withdrawal method.
Digital bank accounts can’t be used to purchase Connects, memberships, or other services—they’re only for withdrawing funds.
Note: If you use a digital bank, we may not be able to help you if there are issues with making a payment or receiving funds.
Why can’t Upwork help resolve issues with digital banking?
When you use a digital bank, we may not be able to trace payments to help resolve issues.
That’s because digital banks rely on a partner (or intermediary) bank to process transactions with Upwork, including ACH. This extra layer makes tracing difficult—or sometimes not possible at all. Even when it is, it may take longer than the typical two to four weeks it takes with a traditional bank.
In short: digital bank delays or issues may take longer to resolve—and we might not be able to resolve them at all.
