Forgot Password or Security Question

If you have forgotten your password or security question, you may follow the steps outlined below.

To reset your password

  1. Ensure you can access the email address associated with your Upwork account
  2. Click the Forgot password? link on the login form
  3. Enter your Upwork username or email
  4. You will receive an email from donotreply@upwork.com with next steps

To reset your security question

  1. Ensure you can access the email address associated with your Upwork account
  2. Click the Forgot your answer? link on the security form
  3. You will receive an email from donotreply@upwork.com with next steps
What should I do if I forgot my password and my security question?

If you have forgotten your password and your security question, you will need to submit a request to customer support.

What should I do if I believe my account has been compromised?

If you suspect that someone has compromised your account

  1. Go to Settings > Password & Security
  2. Click the ✎ icon in the Security Question section to reset your security question
  3. Click the ✎ icon in the Password section to reset your password
  4. Select "Require that all devices sign in with new password"
    1. This will log out all active sessions
  5. Report the problem to our support team here.
