How do I view an invoice to see my earnings, fees, etc., and download it?
- Go to Manage finances › Transactions
- Find the transaction you need. You can filter by dates, transaction type, or contract to find the invoice you want. (Agencies may see additional filters)
- Select the transaction. This takes you to a transaction summary that shows your earnings and fees for the transaction
- To download an invoice for specific earnings or fees, choose the download icon in the invoice column on the transaction summary
Important: Invoices are available to download for five years from the invoice date. After that, they’re permanently deleted and can’t be recovered.
How do I bulk download invoices and receipts?
- Go to Manage finances › Transactions
- Apply any filters you want to refine the list of transactions — such as dates, transaction types, or contract
- Choose the Select download dropdown
- Choose the type of file you want:
- CSV file, which shows a summary of transactions
- PDFs, which will generate separate PDFs for each transaction in one zip file
Good to know: The way we process your bulk invoice downloads depends on how many invoices you request:
- Most invoice downloads process within 30 seconds, and you'll see them in your device's download folder right away
- If you're downloading a larger number of invoices, they'll take longer to process — up to two hours. Once the bulk download is finished, we'll email a link to a zip file to the email address associated with your account and notify you on Upwork. The link stays active for 72 hours
- Got an error message that you’ve selected too many invoices to download at once? Reduce the number of invoices by changing the filters, such as the date range, and try again
Do I need to review my invoices as a freelancer?
No. Invoices are for record-keeping purposes only and you do not have to review them or take any action. The finance system charges your client's billing method automatically whenever a balance is due.
