Your transaction history has a new look!


Want to see the old transaction history again?

To help everyone adapt to the changes, you can toggle between the old and new versions through April 30, 2025.


To help you stay focused on doing great work, we keep your billing and invoicing information organized and easily accessible in your transaction history, where you can download and print your invoices.
Invoices show your earnings for a transaction, including bonuses, and the related freelancer service fee. They also include your client's company name, company owner's name, the company's contact address, and their VAT number, if they have one.

Invoices are for record-keeping purposes only. The finance system charges a client's billing method automatically whenever the client has a balance due.

Note:

Note: Invoices are stored and downloadable for a period of 5 years after the invoice date. After that time, they are deleted and no longer available. We do not customize and edit invoices since they are system generated.

To get an official invoice


  1. Go to Manage finances › Transaction history
  2. Find the transaction you need. You can filter by dates, transaction type, or contract to help you find the invoice you want
  3. Select the transaction. This takes you to a transaction summary that shows your earnings and fee for the transaction
  4. To download an invoice for specific earnings or fees, choose the download icon in the in the invoice column on the transaction summary

Bulk download invoices and receipts


The way we process your bulk invoice downloads depends on how many invoices are in your request:

  • Most invoice downloads process within 30 seconds. You can access the download immediately after through the downloads folder on your computer
  • If you are downloading larger amounts of invoices, they'll take longer to process. We'll email a link to a zip file to the email address associated with your account when it finishes processing, which can take up to two hours. We'll also notify you on Upwork when it's ready, and the link will stay active for 72 hours
  • If you get an error message that you’ve selected too many invoices to download at once, reduce the number of invoices by changing the filers, like the date range, and try again

To download bulk invoices and receipts:

  1. Go to Manage finances Transaction history
  2. Apply any filters you want to use to refine the list of transactions. You can filter by dates, transaction types, and contract
  3. Choose the Select download dropdown 
  4. Choose a CSV file, which shows a summary of transactions, or PDFs, which will generate separate PDFs for each transaction in one zip file

Frequently Asked Questions

I requested to download bulk invoices but I didn’t get the email or the link expired. What should I do?

When making a larger request, please wait up to two hours to receive a link through email. Make sure you’re checking the email address associated with your Upwork account, and check any spam folders too. If the link in your email expired, download the invoices again. The link will only stay active for 72 hours.
