Upwork is the world’s work marketplace that connects businesses with highly skilled professionals from across the globe. We serve everyone from one-person startups to large, Fortune 100 enterprises, offering solutions that serve the diverse hiring needs of our customers with a powerful, trust-driven platform, from short-term projects to long-term contracts to hiring for full-time employment.
Our new beta feature offers hiring managers a direct path to the best-matched candidate when hiring a new full-time employee. After providing Upwork with job details, we instantly deliver a shortlist of candidates, and provide the insights and data, to help you ensure they have the skills and experience that match your full-time role requirements. See relevant matches faster than conducting searches on your own, posting a job and waiting for applications, or depending on a staffing agency. Streamline your hiring process for less delays on work progress and better outcomes for your business.
First, you'll need to be referred to Upwork by your employer-of-record (EOR). Then you can:
- Share your job details: Once you’ve shared your job details with your EOR, the information is sent to Upwork. Our beta feature then searches for relevant candidates identified through the experience, skills, and work performance showcased on their resume.
-
Log in to Upwork
- If you’re new to Upwork, look for the email from Upwork and select Activate your account
- If you have an Upwork client account, look for the email from Upwork and select View your matches
- View your matches: If there are potential matches, you’ll immediately receive matches for candidates that may be a fit for your job specifications.
- Review and invite: Review your matches and invite your top candidates for interviews.
- Conduct interviews: You can use Upwork's scheduling tool and Zoom integration for interviews.
- Select a candidate and pay: Once you decide to hire a candidate, you’ll pay Upwork a one-time fee of 10% of the employee’s expected annual salary.
- Hire through your EOR: We will let your EOR know you’re ready to hire. Questions related to the employee hiring process should be directed to your EOR.
Our new beta feature is designed specifically to help clients quickly and easily find the right candidate to hire for full-time employment, rather than our current experience where clients can choose either worker classification (i.e., independent contractor or employee).
Here are a few key differences from the typical Upwork process that you’ll experience when using this beta feature:
- Search/match results: To be considered for a full-time match, candidates must indicate their interest in full-time opportunities and provide their resumes. The resumes are analyzed against your job requirements to ensure highly relevant matches. Outside of the jobs in this full-time matching beta, resumes are not used.
- Contracts: You are not required to start an Upwork contract in order to hire a candidate.
- Fees: Once you decide to hire a candidate, you’ll pay Upwork a one-time fee of 10% of the employee’s expected annual salary as the cost for this service.
- Hiring: The process of hiring, onboarding, and managing payroll takes place off of the Upwork platform. You can hire the employee using your own systems or we can connect you with our employer-of-record (EOR) partner for additional support.
There is no cost to use our new beta feature for finding candidate matches. If you decide to hire a candidate as an employee to fill your full-time job, we charge a one-time fee of 10% of the expected employee’s salary to be paid to Upwork.
No, the full-time jobs submitted using this beta feature are not made available on Talent Marketplace in any way (public or private).
Yes, you can submit additional full-time jobs by going to your Full-time jobs page and selecting Add another full-time job. Once you submit your job details, if there are suitable matches, Upwork will immediately deliver candidates that may be a fit for your job specifications. To switch between jobs and see matches for each, use the pull-down menu under Select jobs.
Note:
Jobs submitted through this beta feature are for full-time employment only. To post a job on Talent Marketplace, go to Jobs in the top navigation and select Post a job.
To initiate an interview with a candidate, simply review your matches and choose Invite to interview. You have the option to use our customizable message or draft a message of your own. For the interview, you can conduct face-to-face video calls using Upwork’s integrated Zoom functionality, ensuring a smooth and efficient interview process that can be tailored to your specific needs.
No, there is no limit on the number of candidates you can interview. If you need more candidates or are looking for a specific type of candidate, please Contact Support to submit your request. An Upwork representative will promptly reach out to assist you with the next steps, helping you ensure that you find the ideal match for your full-time position.
When you're ready to hire a candidate, navigate to the Interview tab, locate the candidate, and select Hire. You can proceed to hire your new employee with your own payroll systems, or you can take advantage of our employer-of-record (EOR) partners, who offer support with hiring, onboarding, and payroll management. Upon deciding to hire, Upwork will charge a one-time fee of 10% of the anticipated annual salary of the employee. Please provide the annual salary and we will send an email with the invoice.
If your job requirements have evolved and you need an update on your matches, please Contact Support to submit a request detailing your new needs. An Upwork representative will reach out to you promptly to discuss the updated requirements and ensure that you receive matches that may fit your revised full-time role specifications.
Sharing contact information and communicating outside of Upwork before a contract starts is against Upwork’s Terms of Service. Please use the communication services available on Upwork to message and conduct interviews with candidates.
For jobs related to the beta feature for full-time matching, you do not start an Upwork contract to hire a candidate as a full-time employee. The process of hiring, onboarding, and managing payroll takes place off of the Upwork platform.
This exception applies to the full-time jobs submitted using this beta feature only. Hiring for jobs posted through Upwork’s typical hiring process requires starting an Upwork contract.
