You can add a profile overview to show clients you have the skills and experience they're looking for. You can promote your profile with ads to jump on top of results and search. You can also add a video introduction. This dialogue box will allow you to link to a YouTube video and then also select what type of video is this. You can add a portfolio of your work to showcase your skills visually. You can choose if you are open to offers between more than 30 hours a week, less than 30 hours a week as needed, or none. You can add your languages. This is also where your identity verification will appear if Upwork requires it. You can also add your military status and your education. Whenever you start working with Upwork and getting clients, they will appear in your work history here. You can manually put what skills you have. This is a great way for clients to be able to search, specifically depending on what skills they need for their jobs. Here you can add a project catalog where you can group different items together and offer them to clients. You can also add testimonials once you begin working with your clients. You can request a testimonial in order to strengthen your profile. Here you have certifications. You can add these manually or you can import them from Credly. You can add employment history here. You can show your employment history outside of the Upwork platform, and at the very bottom add your volunteer experiences, hobbies, relevant to your work, or anything else you feel is relevant to your profile.

Upwork offers a comprehensive profile structure. Let's explore each element and how to optimize it for maximum impact:

  • Employment history: showcase your past projects and work completed off of the Upwork platform.
  • Portfolio: This is your chance to shine! Include your best work samples that demonstrate your skills and expertise. These could be external projects, mock projects, class projects, or anything else you've done to show your passions and skills.
  • Availability and rates: Set your availability and hourly rate, considering your experience and niche.
  • Settings: Explore Upwork's settings (most importantly, experience level and main categories/subcategories) to personalize your profile's visibility and communication preferences.
