Client testimonials are invaluable for building trust and credibility. Positive feedback from past clients is like gold on Upwork, serving as social proof of your skills, work ethic, and client satisfaction. Upwork even allows you to request testimonials from clients outside the platform, so you can showcase recommendations from previous employers or projects you've completed elsewhere.
Strategies to acquire testimonials
To enhance your profile with strong testimonials, delivering exceptional service and proactively requesting feedback from satisfied clients is essential.
Here are key strategies to secure positive client testimonials:
- Deliver exceptional service: Focus on consistently exceeding client expectations and delivering high-quality work. Satisfied clients are more likely to provide positive testimonials.
-
Proactive request: After successful project completion, politely request a testimonial from your client. Upwork offers a streamlined testimonial request process within the platform.
- For example, you could say, "I'm glad you're satisfied with my work. If you have a moment, could you please share your experience in a testimonial? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated."
Receiving feedback
Client feedback is invaluable for identifying strengths and areas for improvement. Understanding your clients' perspectives can refine your services and enhance your offerings. Additionally, sharing positive feedback on your social media platforms can bolster your personal brand.
As long as the client has paid you at least $1.00 USD and it's ready to be withdrawn*, any feedback they leave will be displayed on your public profile. Here's how you can see all the feedback you've received:
- Go to My Jobs › All Contracts.
- Under Filters, select All or Ended to see closed contracts.
- Select the contract title to get to the contract workroom page.
- Select the Details tab to view the feedback.
To ensure unbiased feedback, Upwork employs a double-masked review system. This means that you and your client can only see the feedback left by the other party once both reviews have been submitted or the 14-day feedback period has ended.
