Fixed-price contracts with money in escrow and no activity for 90 days will be considered “dormant.” This prevents money from being held in escrow for too long. Please see section 3 of the Fixed Price Escrow Instructions details on how dormant contract situations are resolved.
Ways to avoid a dormant contract
- Don’t set the current milestone’s deadline more than 90 days in the future.
- Submit a bonus to keep the contract active.
Ask the freelancer to submit what work has been completed, release a partial milestone payment, and create another milestone to continue work.
