In some cases, our identity verification team will need to have a brief video chat with you to verify your profile. Occasionally, we ask Upwork users to take this step in addition to or instead of our other identity document verification processes.
The call should take less than ten minutes and we will ask you a few questions about the information in your profile. Until the call is completed, a temporary hold will be placed on your account. During this time you will not be able to submit new proposals or change your profile photo. Your account will be fully resumed upon successful profile verification. Please respond within a week to avoid more serious restrictions.
To complete the required video call, please click on the link provided via email. The email’s subject line will be “Action Required: Please Verify Your Profile.”
When you are ready to complete video verification:
- Use a computer with a camera and microphone. Mobile devices or tablets will not work.
- Allow Upwork Help Center use of your camera and microphone so that we can initiate the video verification. You may disable this feature after the chat session.
- Disable any pop-up blockers in your browser or on your system. You may re-enable these after the chat session.
- This process works best with the latest versions of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers. Older versions may not be fully supported.
