To-do lists on hourly contracts help clients and freelancers stay organized and aligned. Use is optional and must be mutually agreed upon. Lists can be created and managed from the contract or Messages, allowing users to add, assign, edit, and track tasks. Only available for hourly contracts.

What's a to-do list?

It's an optional feature on active hourly contracts to help set clear task expectations and stay organized. If you and the freelancer agree to use to-do's, anyone on the contract shares the same list and can add or edit tasks.

How to create a to-do list

You can create to-dos from two places: the contract and Messages.

  1. Find the contract under Manage work > Your Contracts
  2. Open the contract and you’ll see the TO-DOS section — this is the central place to manage your to-do list for this contract
  3. Select the + New button to open a modal, where you can:
    • Set a title for the to-do
    • Assign it
    • Add an optional, non-binding due date
    • Describe the details

You can also create to-dos from Messages:

  1. Choose Add a to-do from the menu in the message header
  2. Convert a message to a to-do by clicking on the message and selecting Add as a to-do from the menu.

When you create a to-do directly from a message, the description is auto-populated with the message text and the to-do is linked to the message for future reference.

How to use the to-do list

All to-dos are shown in one place on the contract for quick visibility. You can:

  • Reorder tasks by dragging the dots
  • Edit by clicking the pencil icon
  • Mark complete with the checkbox
  • Delete using the trash icon

Everyone on the contract gets notified in Messages and notifications when a to-do is added, updated, completed, or deleted.
