What is the diversity-certified badge on Upwork?
The diversity-certified badge lets freelancers and agencies highlight their certified status as a minority-owned, woman-owned, U.S. veteran-owned, disability-owned, or LGBTQ+-owned business.
If you add a diversity certification to your profile, your badge will be visible to Enterprise clients, and they can filter searches to find diversity-certified talent.

What are the available diversity certifications?
U.S.-based freelancers and agencies can select from one or more of several badges, listed below:
- Minority-owned
- Woman-owned
- U.S. veteran-owned
- Disability-owned
- LGBTQ+-owned
How do I add a diversity certification?
- Go to your profile
- On the left hand side, find the Diversity certification section
- Select the plus (+) button
- Enter your certification information
Once you enter the details, your diversity certification badge will automatically appear.
Does Upwork certify businesses for diversity?
No, Upwork does not provide diversity certification services, but you can showcase your certification from third-party agencies on your Upwork profile.
Some examples of certifying agencies:
