How to add a certification to your Upwork profile

You can add certifications you’ve earned outside of Upwork to your freelancer profile. This can help you show clients your skills and qualifications.

If your certification is from one of Upwork’s trusted partners, see What is the Partner Certified Talent program? instead. Partner certifications are externally validated and follow a different process.

How do I manually add a certification?

To add a certification that isn’t Partner Certified:

1. Go to your freelancer profile
2. Scroll down to the Certifications section
3. Select Add certification
4. Select Add manually
5. Enter your certification details:
   • Certification name
   • Provider
   • Issue date
   • Expiration date
   • Description
   • Certification ID (optional)
   • Certification URL (optional)
6. Select Add certification

Your certification will then appear on your profile.
