How to control what earnings show on your profile

Learn which earnings show on your Upwork profile, when updates occur, and how to hide your freelancer or agency earnings for more privacy.

Important to know: The total earnings and hours displayed on your profile are based on logged contract activity and may not reflect refunds. These figures are estimates and may not always be exact.

What earnings will show on my profile?

Your total earnings on your public profile include all the money you’ve made on Upwork as a freelancer — and through any agency you’re part of. That means:

  • Hourly contracts
  • Milestone payments
  • Project Catalog sales
  • Bonuses
  • Any other payments from clients

Note: Only payments released to you and available for withdrawal will count toward your public total.

When are earnings updated on my profile?

It depends on how much you’ve earned so far.

Your first update happens once you have at least $1.00 USD available to withdraw. After that, your profile updates based on your overall earnings:

  • From $0 to $100: Updated after each payment from clients becomes available for withdraw
  • After $100: Updates in $100 increments (e.g., it’ll show $200 until you reach $300)
  • After $1,000: Updates in $1,000 increments
  • After $10,000: Updates in $10,000 increments
  • After $100,000: Updates in $100,000 increments
  • After $1 million: Updates in $1 million increments

Can I hide my earnings?

Yes — if you’re using the Freelancer Plus plan. Here's how it works:

  • You can hide your contract rates and total billings on your profile’s work history
  • Your hourly rate at the top of your profile always stays public
  • Clients will still see your earnings and contract rates once you send a proposal or accept an invite

If you're on the Basic plan, hiding earnings isn't an option. But, you can:

  • Limit who sees your profile in search results by adjusting your profile visibility
  • Upgrade to the Freelancer Plus plan for more privacy controls

Note: If you switch from Plus back to Basic, your hidden earnings will automatically become public again. If you upgrade again later, you can re-hide them.

How do I hide my profile earnings?

  1. Go to Your profile › Profile settings
  2. Check the box for Earnings privacy

How do I hide my agency earnings?

Here’s how to do it if you’re in an agency:

  1. Go to Find work › Agency roster
  2. Check the box for Keep the earnings in my Upwork history private
