Learn why your Upwork job post may be removed, common TOS violations that trigger removals, and how to fix issues to keep your job posts active.
If your job post was removed, it may be fixable. We’ll usually send you a notification with the reason, but if you didn’t get one, here are some common possibilities:
- You reposted a job while the original one was still open
- You used the exact same job title for two posts (for example, one hourly and one fixed-price). A small tweak to the title can help avoid this
- The post violated Upwork’s Terms of Service — even if unintentionally
Here are some common TOS violations for job posts:
- Asking for unpaid work, free samples, or trial tasks without clear payment
- Mentioning communication tools like email, WhatsApp, Telegram — or anything that lets freelancers contact you off-platform before you have a contract in place
- Including personally identifying information like your full name, personal or company email, phone number, or company name (unless you're an Enterprise client)
- Sharing a company website or external link that encourages off-platform contact
- Uploading attachments with sensitive business info or official company letterhead
- Requesting or suggesting that payment happen outside of Upwork
