We're proud to support a thriving network of global freelancers in over 180 countries.
Regardless of where you are living, you are responsible to comply with any work authorization requirements you may have. Unfortunately, we do not offer universal service to all international locations, and you must be 18 years old (or the age of majority in your country, whichever is older).
We are not able to advise you on whether you can use Upwork except in the specific restriction cases below.
Restrictions
The Russia-Ukraine war has challenged our mission and our operational ability to bring economic empowerment to those who seek it. As a result, Upwork suspended operations in Russia and Belarus as of May 1, 2022. You can learn more here.
Additionally, U.S. law restricts Upwork from conducting business with individuals or entities located or traveling in restricted areas. Businesses or individuals in the following regions and countries are not permitted to register for accounts or utilize our platform:
- Iran
- North Korea
- Syria
- Crimea, region of Ukraine
- Cuba
- Individual nationals of Cuba
- Luhansk People's Republic (LPR)
- Donetsk People's Republic (DPR)
- Any other country or region restricted by law (this changes occasionally)
In compliance with U.S. law, Upwork does not conduct business with individuals and entities on a list called the Specially Designated Nationals ("SDN") list. More information on these laws, click here. There may be other companies or individuals we do not currently include in our service areas.
Finally, if you have been suspended from Upwork in the past, you will not be allowed to work on our platform again, and new accounts will be closed.
