How to allow camera access for identity verification
To verify your identity on Upwork, you'll need to start the process on your computer, then finish it on your mobile device using a camera-enabled smartphone or tablet. This helps us keep the platform safe and secure for everyone.
If your camera isn’t working or access is blocked, follow the steps below to allow camera permissions based on your browser.
Step 1: Start the identity verification on your computer

Make sure you have a device nearby with a working camera and a stable internet connection.
Step 2: Complete verification on your mobile device
To continue, you’ll need to allow Upwork access to your camera.
Choose your browser below for instructions:
Chrome on Android
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner
- Select Settings > Site Settings
- Tap Camera or Microphone
- Make sure access is turned on
Chrome on iPhone or iPad
- On the left side of the address bar, tap the camera icon
- If you don’t see the icon, visit your device Settings
- Go to Chrome and allow Camera access
Safari (iOS devices)
- Open your device’s Settings
- Scroll down and tap Safari
- Under Settings for Websites, tap Camera and Microphone
- Set both to Allow
Firefox (Android or iOS)
- Open your device’s Settings app
- Go to Apps > Firefox
