I can’t remember what email address I used to create my Upwork account. What should I do?

Start by searching your inboxes — personal, work, or any older email accounts — for messages from Upwork. Try keywords like:

    • “Proposal”
    • “Contract”
    • “Job post”
       

If you find a message, check which email it was sent to. That’s likely the one linked to your account.

Pro tip: Try all your commonly used email addresses — even ones you don’t use often anymore. You might be surprised which one you signed up with.



I forgot my Upwork password, what should I do?

  1. On the Upwork login page, choose the Forgot password? link when prompted for your password
  2. Enter your Upwork username or the email you use for your Upwork account

There may be times when we ask you to verify your identity by providing your security answer, such as at login, in settings, or when you access payments. If you don’t remember it, you can follow these steps to get help:

  1. When you are asked to answer your security answer, choose the Forgot your answer? link on the security question form
  2. We’ll send you an email with the next steps (if it doesn’t arrive promptly, check your spam folder)



I've tried resetting my password but it still doesn't work. What should I do?

We suggest trying the following:

  • Double-check that you're using the correct email associated with your Upwork account. If you have multiple email addresses, make sure you're entering the one linked to your Upwork account
  • Don't forget to check your spam or junk folder. If you can't find our email, try sending the reset request again
  • Clear your browser's cache and cookies. Sometimes, login issues are caused by your browser's cache or cookies. If clearing doesn't help, try using a different browser or device
