Learn how to leave feedback for a client, deadlines, visibility rules, and professional guidelines to follow when submitting feedback after a contract ends.
Note:
We’ve changed how you leave end-of-contract feedback for your client. As of March 31, 2026, we’ve simplified how you leave feedback for your clients at the end of a contract. The goal is to make the process faster, clearer, and more useful.
What's new:
- A simpler rating system. You’ll now leave a single overall 5-star rating instead of rating across multiple categories
- More transparency. Any private note you leave for your client will now be visible in their contract workroom for them to see

How do I leave feedback for a client?
- Go to All contracts and find the contract
- Go to the Contract details tab and select Give feedback
How long do I have to give feedback?
You have 14 days from the contract end date to leave feedback. The countdown runs on UTC time, which means:
- The deadline is midnight UTC on the 14th day
- Depending on your time zone, it may close earlier than you expect—double-check your local time vs. UTC to be safe
When does the client see the feedback I leave?
Feedback is double-blind. This means they can’t see the feedback you left until:
- Both of you have submitted feedback
OR
- The 14-day window to leave feedback ends
This helps make sure feedback stays honest and independent.
What if I miss the deadline to leave feedback for my client?
If the feedback window closes before you submit your comments, you won’t be able to add them on your own. But you can:
- Ask your client to allow feedback to be added later
If they agree, you’ll get a notification when the option is reopened.
What are the guidelines for giving feedback to clients?
Keep your feedback honest, professional, and aligned with our Terms of Service (TOS). A few key things to know:
What to do
- Be focused on the actual work and experience in the contract
- Be free of abusive, offensive, or discriminatory language
- Be free of explicit content or links to it
- Not share your client’s private or confidential information, including name
What not to do
- Don’t offer or accept anything (like money, bonuses, gifts) in exchange for good feedback
- Don’t collaborate with others to boost each other’s profiles or Job Success Scores. We call this feedback building and it's against our Terms of Service
- Don’t use feedback to threaten or pressure
