What are job proposal insights for freelancers?
Proposal insights shows how your proposal and skills compare to those of others who submitted a proposal to the same job, as well as details about the client's hiring activity.
Insights update hourly and include:
- The job post’s total number of submitted proposals, with a breakdown of how many the client has:
- Opened
- Shortlisted
- Responded to with a message
Note: These metrics only track organic proposals submitted directly by freelancers. They do not include client-initiated invitations or replies to those invitations.
- Average proposal bid amounts, with a breakdown of the:
- Average bids the client responded to with a message
- Bids from Top Rated freelancers
- Average stats about freelancers who submitted proposals, including total earnings and jobs
- The top profile skills of freelancers who submitted proposals
Tip: You can use the insights to better understand how your experience and bid compare, adjust your proposal based on trends, and plan future proposals. You can also edit your bid or your profile directly from the insights section of your proposal page.

Why is there a difference between the number of proposals on the job post versus in my proposal insights?
These two pages display data from different perspectives and sources:
- Job Post Page ("Activity on this job"): Shows a range of relevant proposals currently being considered by the client. This includes both organic proposals and replied client invitations, but excludes withdrawn, declined, or archived submissions.
- Proposal Insights Page: Reflects organic, freelancer-submitted proposals only. It does not track activity from client-initiated invitations, unanswered invites, or replied invitations.
Because the Job Post page includes invitation activity and the Proposal Insights page does not, these numbers will naturally differ.
Are proposal insights included in Agency Plus?
No, they are only offered in the Freelancer Plus subscription.
