Limited Time Offer: Upwork will waive the applicable Direct Contracts Fee or AnyHire Fee (each as defined in the applicable program terms) for eligible new Direct Contracts (“DC”) and AnyHire (“AH”) relationships that are created and activated during the Promotion Period (the “Promotion”).
Eligibility: To be eligible, you must have an Upwork account in good standing, be enrolled in a Client Marketplace Plan (Basic, Pro, or Business Plus), and enter into a new DC or AH relationship with a net new freelancer during the Promotion Period. Net new means the freelancer must not have had an account on Upwork previously. The relationship must also be activated during the Promotion Period (as described below).
Promotion Period: The Promotion is available for eligible DC/AH relationships created and activated between March 16, 2026 and April 15, 2026 (inclusive).
How it works (billing-cycle based waiver): If you create and activate an eligible new DC or AH relationship during the Promotion Period, Upwork will waive the applicable per-active-contract fee for the first fees assessed for that contract, measured from the initial billing date (i.e., the first consecutive billing cycles beginning with the first time the fee would otherwise be charged):
- Direct Contracts (DC): waiver of the first three (3) monthly Direct Contracts Fees (three consecutive monthly billing cycles).
- AnyHire (AH): waiver of the first seven (7) Any Hire Fees (seven consecutive two-week billing cycles).
Waiver period: The waiver applies to the first applicable billing cycles beginning on the initial billing date (or as otherwise specified in-product). After the waiver period ends, the applicable per-active-contract fee (and any other applicable fees) will apply at the then-current rates.
For avoidance of doubt, the waiver is tied to the first consecutive billing cycles starting from the initial billing date, and is not extended or restarted by pauses, gaps in activity, or later reactivation.
Activation: “Activated” means the contract reaches the status required for fee assessment under the applicable program terms (e.g., becoming an “active” contract for billing purposes under DC or AH fee rules). If a relationship is created during the Promotion Period but is not activated during the Promotion Period, it is not eligible for the Promotion.
Other fees may apply: The Promotion applies only to the applicable DC/AH per-active-contract fee described above. It does not waive or change any other fees or amounts you may owe, including (as applicable) plan/subscription fees (e.g., Basic, Pro, Business Plus), payment processing fees, taxes, or other fees described in Upwork’s Fee and ACH Authorization Agreement (https://www.upwork.com/legal#fees) and/or applicable plan terms.
Exclusions: This Promotion does not apply to:
- Existing DC or AH relationships created before the Promotion Period;
- Reactivated relationships or contracts that were previously active (including restarting, re-opening, renewing, cloning, or otherwise reactivating a prior DC/AH relationship or contract);
- Relationships created for the purpose of circumventing fees or otherwise abusing the Promotion; or
- Any other scenarios expressly excluded in the in-product offer experience.
No self-hiring: You may not create an eligible DC or AH relationship with yourself, including by using another account you control or acting through an affiliate, agent, or entity you own or control. Any attempt to do so will render the relationship ineligible and may result in revocation of the Promotion and other actions permitted under Upwork’s Terms of Service.
Restrictions: Limit one Promotion per client account. The Promotion is not transferable and may not be combined with other discounts, special pricing, or promotional offers unless explicitly permitted by Upwork. Upwork may correct errors and revoke the Promotion if misuse, fraud, or abuse is suspected.
Abuse & Misuse: Upwork reserves the right to revoke the Promotion, correct errors in application, and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upwork may modify or terminate this Promotion prospectively.
Modifications & Termination: Upwork may modify or terminate this Promotion at any time with or without notice. Modifications will not apply retroactively to waivers already applied during the Promotion Period.
