Can I choose the location of the freelancers I want to work with on Upwork?
Yes, you can set your location preferences when you post a job, and you can edit that preference in your job post at any time.
- If you're a U.S.-based client posting a job, we'll ask if you want to target your search to freelancers in the U.S. or open it to freelancers anywhere. If you choose U.S. only, then only freelancers in the U.S. will be able to see your post and submit a proposal. You can also set a preference for specific U.S. states and time zones, but freelancers anywhere in the U.S. can still see and submit to your post.
- For other locations, clients can choose a preference of country or region. All freelancers will be able to see your post and submit a proposal, but they'll be able to see your preference when they look at your job post.
Note:
You can also filter by location when you search for freelancers on Upwork.
Why does Upwork offer location selection for remote work?
We recognize that sometimes you need a freelancer located in the same country. Your projects may require localized knowledge, the possibility of on-site coordination, specific compliance needs, or other factors that make working with someone within your country preferable.
What about countries besides the U.S.?
You can set location preferences in your job post to help attract freelancers from specific countries. Just keep in mind that freelancers outside those locations can still submit proposals.
