How to transfer ownership of your Upwork client account

How do I transfer ownership of my client/company account on Upwork?

  1. Go to Account settings (desktop) or Settings (mobile app) > My info
  2. Choose the Transfer ownership button
  3. Enter the name of the new owner and select Begin Transfer. Note: You can only transfer ownership to a company member who has administrator status
  4. We’ll send you an email confirming your request. Choose I agree, if you wish to transfer company ownership

  5. We’ll send an email to the person you’ve named inviting them to become the new owner, and they will need to choose Accept Invitation to do so

Note: You may also be able to enter your VAT number, which will be included on your invoices. If you can't add your VAT ID number under My Info, please go to your  > Tax Information.
