Why does Upwork ask me to verify my location?
Verifying your location helps keep the Upwork community secure and trustworthy. It also ensures we’re aligned with any regional regulations.
How do I verify my location?
If we need to verify your location, we’ll notify you by email and through your Upwork account. You’ll have seven days to complete the process once notified.
If you miss the deadline, we may place a temporary hold on your account until verification is completed.
What information does Upwork need to verify my location?
We may ask for one or more of the following:
- A valid, government-issued photo ID
- A recent utility bill
- A financial statement
- A property document
I travel frequently. Can I still verify my location?
Yes. As long as your ID and profile address are from the same country, you can complete verification, even if you're currently traveling. It’s up to you and your freelancers to agree on how travel may affect your working relationship.
