Why am I seeing "Verifying You Are Human” message?

At Upwork, we take steps to protect our platform from automated threats that can negatively impact your experience and security. This system helps ensure fair access to Upwork by preventing bots from scraping data, automating actions, or attempting fraudulent activities. 

If you see a Verifying You Are Human message, it means our security measures are checking to confirm that your activity is legitimate. This can occasionally be triggered by factors like certain browser settings, extensions, VPNs, or proxies.
 

Message examples:

In some cases, you may see the message a few times as you use our site. However, if we can’t verify your internet connection, it may keep appearing repeatedly each time you access pages. If the message repeatedly pops up or appears in a loop, we suggest trying the following:

  1. Clear your browser cache, cookies, and history, then restart your browser
  2. Disable browser extensions, especially security/privacy-related ones
  3. Check your browser settings to ensure cookies and Javascript are allowed
  4. Update your browser to the latest version
  5. Turn off any VPN or proxy

If the issue persists, try using a different browser or network to see if the problem is specific to your setup.
